HDB
lifts to go wireless
Singapore,
6 July 2005
Surbana
Technology Pte Ltd (Surbana) in collaboration with HDB has successfully
developed a new wireless lift monitoring system which will be installed
in HDB lifts as a new pilot project. The new lift monitoring system
features a comprehensive data transmission network using locally
manufactured iTegno modems developed by iWOW Connections Pte Ltd (iWOW)
to provide high data transmission efficiency and reliability.
Previously
status of lifts such as passenger entrapments, lift faults and
impending equipment failures was sent back to the command centre via
leased telephone lines. Now, the information is sent back via GPRS.
The
new wireless lift monitoring system is integrated with iTegno modems,
which have undergone a 9-month stringent trial and testing. They have
proven their stability and reliability in transmitting data between
individual lift system and the main server. ‘We are glad to
adopt the iTegno modems which are able to meet our stringent
standards.’ said Mr Raymond Seah, CTO of Surbana Technology
Pte Ltd.
‘'With
the integration of iTegno modem for speedy and uninterrupted data
transmission, this new lift monitoring system will eventually replace
dated telephone cable transmission and bring HDB lift monitoring into
the wireless arena.' said Mr Lee Yao Chiang, CEO of iWOW Connections
Pte Ltd.
According
to Surbana, this new lift monitoring system will be applying to all new
HDB blocks and gradually replacing the existing monitoring system. The
first phase of implementation has recently taken place in the HDB
residential estates in Punggol and Ang Mo Kio.
